Natoye, such an old place!

Yes, we have references to it since 633 and it used to be called Athetasis. The village received its final name in 1243. What we still can see from this time is the Roman paved road from Dinant to Huy.

The castle itself was not build before 1875 and belonged to the Fabribeckers. The bricks were made on the spot in aim to dig a lake and dry the wet lands around the area.

In 1902, a French lawyer bought it and gave it to the Carmelite Sisters. They added a building and, in order to be more secluded, built a large wall facing the South. Luckily, nowadays, it has vanished...

The Sisters left during World War I and the cloister became property of the Passionate Brothers. Since then several additions were added to the complex: a hen-house, a vast chapel, classrooms for a college, the paved court...
That is all what was put up for sale in 1966 when the last students left the school.

Due to the size of the place, not many buyers were interested. In the end, the National Chaplain of the Patros, a Belgian Youth Movement, bought it. The inauguration took place in presence of King Baudoin, Queen Fabiola and Cardinal Suenens.
Nowadays, it is a place where young people can meet and live within the values of ecology, civic spirit and having fun.
